Coming Close to Spring

This year has been pretty chill, well except for always having plenty to do. One good thing about my frustration with federal politics is that it awoke in me a deeper gratitude for the constitution and law and I care about politics more deeply.  In fact, I participated in my first march.
J had to go to Germany for a little over a week so I made my first batch of overnight pizza dough without him. I was impressed it turned out well. Valentines Day was lovely, with someone surprising me with heart decorations on my door.
I have felt very loved by my family and friends and it makes my heart smile.
I am sometimes discouraged by all the bulling and hard hearts and minds in the world today, but then I look around me and see the beauty of love, kindness and intelligence.  I know I have been given an amazing blessing to have these people around me, as well as healthy, loving and happy kids.

Zoo and MLK Day Hike

It has been a good new year for the most part. I got to visit with my friend who came into town,  rediscovered the fun of the phoenix zoo and develop a love for Martin Luther King Day.

Martin Luther King day was great for three reasons: One, my husband got work off and we actually got to rest and relax together. Two, because of the holiday our kids asked us a lot of questions about racism, history, and who Dr. King was, so we got to have a lot of good conversations and it allowed me to learn more about Dr. King and the civil rights movement. Three, we got to visit my favorite hang outs at South Mountain and hike up one of the smaller mountains. It was fun to see my older two (My younger son wasn't so happy) so excited about exploring and climbing up and over rocks. When we climbed up the mountain, my son, pointed at the taller mountains in the distance and asked if we could climb those next.
He was not so thrilled with the hike

November-
What are you grateful for driveway
We were pretty sad Trump won the election. I keep hoping I'll start seeing more good in him as a leader, so far I just keep seeing more warning signs he won't do good. Thanksgiving was really pleasant. We also went to a fun pizza block party at Jacobs families neighborhood (Jacob makes pizza too), compete with swat car!

Jacob's work sends him on trips a lot so me and the kids have been exploring parks

December-
It has been one of our healthier winters so far, which considering we all had a short stomach flu is kinda sad, but I'll take what I can get. It was so nice to have Christmas morning in our own home! the kids were so happy. Jonathan had a birthday picnic at the park and didn't care his ice cream cake was a melted mess. :-) His grandparents got him Mincraft which he is now officially addicted to. :-/ luckily he is still good about turning it off when I ask and it works as a great motivator to get him to clean.
